Katie Robinson celebrates after England beat Australia 3-1 to reach the World Cup final.

Women’s first team head coach Melissa Phillips says Katie Robinson will ‘learn so much’ from being part of the Lionesses squad that has reached the FIFA World Cup final.

Robinson, 21, has been a substitute in each of the six games England have played in the tournament, which culminates on Sunday when they faces Spain in Sydney.

But her club coach believes Robinson will have gained invaluable experience during the last few weeks.

She said, “What a fantastic achievement for the England squad and Robbo. We know she will bring back a wealth of experiences from working in the elite environment and culture that the Lionesses have created.

Squad goals: England's players celebrate after reaching Sunday's World Cup final against Spain.

“It’s brilliant for her that she will get to be part of a World Cup final now and hopefully England can go on and win it. They continue to push Women’s football forward and will no doubt be another massive boost for the women’s game in this country.

"We’re looking forward to having Robbo back with us for the season ahead after she’s recovered and rested.”

The first of England’s goals in the 3-1 semi-final win was scored by former Albion Academy player Alessia Russo.
